We collaborated with GroundView on a project called Kaleidoscape, a proposal for a site-specific public art piece on the 82nd Drive Park Place Pedestrian Bridge on the Clackamas River in Oregon. Our concept was to transform the bridge so that for several months, crossing it would become a rich and immersive experience that heightens the pedestrian’s appreciation of the bridge, river and landscape. At the same time, the concept more closely integrates the man-made structure into its natural surroundings.
We proposed suspending approximately 300 lime-yellow, plastic mesh triangles from the bridge’s superstructure. Within each mesh panel is an orb of lightweight, absorbent growing material and native grass seed that will sprout and grow throughout the season.
